Aletheia

Editorial and knowledge

We turn expertise, data and complex ideas into clear, sourced and usable content. We create and revise reports, white papers, policy briefs, articles, institutional documents and digital content through professional writing, editing, language revision and editorial production.

We design tone of voice, content architecture and information materials for businesses, associations, foundations and institutions, including the publications that come out of our own research.

Three different problems

A document nobody reads, one that is read and not understood, and one that is understood and not believed have three distinct causes: the structure, the language and the verifiability. They have to be taken in that order, because language does not rescue a wrong structure.

How a document is designed

The way a system is designed: who reads it, what they must be able to do afterwards, and in what order they need things. The writing comes after. Justified text and hyphenation, layout, typography: those are the last layer, not the first.

On verifiability

The rule is the one we apply to ourselves: every claim that carries weight carries its source, and a reader can re-check it without asking permission. It is why our documents have a public verification address and an archive of earlier editions.

This is one of the areas of Aletheia.
